🚀 Sunita Williams Set to Return to Earth After 9-Month Extended Space Mission | NASA Confirms Live Broadcast

NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Barry “Butch” Wilmore are set to return to Earth after an extended mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS). Initially scheduled for an eight-day mission in June 2024, their stay was prolonged due to technical issues with Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft, resulting in a nearly nine-month duration.

The return journey is planned aboard SpaceX’s Crew-9 Dragon capsule, with departure from the ISS scheduled for Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 6:05 a.m. CET (Central European Time). The capsule is expected to splash down off the coast of Florida at approximately 11:00 p.m. CET the same day.

NASA has announced that the re-entry and landing process will be broadcast live, allowing the public to witness the astronauts’ return. The live coverage will commence at 5:30 a.m. CET on March 18, 2025, accessible through NASA’s official channels.

During their extended mission, Williams and Wilmore contributed significantly to various scientific experiments and maintenance tasks aboard the ISS. Their prolonged stay underscores the unpredictable nature of space missions and the resilience required of astronauts.

The successful docking of SpaceX’s Crew-10 mission on March 16, 2025, has facilitated the scheduling of Williams and Wilmore’s return. The Crew-10 spacecraft, carrying a new team of astronauts, arrived at the ISS, paving the way for the Crew-9 members to conclude their mission.

For those interested in viewing the live coverage of the return, NASA’s livestream will be available on their official website and associated media platforms. This event marks a significant milestone in the astronauts’ mission and offers a unique opportunity for the public to engage with real-time space exploration activities.
