Elon Musk Threatens to Launch ‘America Party’ Over Trump’s Debt Bill: “Time to End the Uniparty!”

Tech billionaire Elon Musk is once again in the political spotlight, this time not as a Trump supporter, but as a fierce critic of the former President’s flagship legislation. In a fiery post on X (formerly Twitter), Musk blasted Donald Trump’s controversial tax-and-spending plan—officially titled “One Big, Beautiful Bill”—calling it a “debt slavery bill” and threatening to create his own political outfit, the America Party, if it becomes law.

“It is obvious with the insane spending of this bill, which increases the debt ceiling by a record FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS that we live in a one-party country – the PORKY PIG PARTY!! Time for a new political party that actually cares about the people,” Musk posted.

Once a vocal Trump backer—having contributed over $250 million to his campaign and even briefly serving in the administration—Musk is now leading a high-profile rebellion against what he calls fiscal hypocrisy within the Republican ranks.

From Ally to Adversary

Musk’s political breakup with Trump has been public and messy. Just weeks ago, he walked out of the White House with praise from the President and the ceremonial key to the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency, a post he was expected to lead. That partnership unraveled quickly over deep differences in spending philosophies.

Now, as the Senate races to pass the bill before the self-imposed July 4 deadline, Musk is using his platform and influence to galvanize public opposition, accusing lawmakers of betraying their promises of fiscal restraint.

“Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame! And they will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth,” Musk wrote.

Musk vs the GOP: The Fallout

In a rare move, Musk directly called out prominent Republicans, including Rep. Andy Harris, Chair of the House Freedom Caucus, questioning their loyalty to conservative values.

“How can you call yourself the Freedom Caucus if you vote for a DEBT SLAVERY bill with the biggest debt ceiling increase in history?”

The bill—One Big, Beautiful Bill—has already narrowly passed the House, and the Senate is working to finalize its version. If it clears both chambers, it would then head to President Trump’s desk for signing.

The bill proposes increased funding for defense, fossil fuel energy projects, and border security, while cutting programs for nutrition and healthcare. According to the Congressional Budget Office, it would raise the national deficit by $3.3 trillion over ten years—a number Musk says is unsustainable and dangerous for working Americans.

The Birth of the ‘America Party’?

While Musk is no stranger to political commentary, this time he’s going further than ever before—hinting at the formation of a full-fledged political party.

“If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day. Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a VOICE,” he declared.

Although no formal registration or leadership team has been announced, Musk’s influence and financial power could make the America Party a serious disruptor in the 2026 and 2028 elections.

Trump Responds: A Cold War Warms Up

Initially, Trump did not take kindly to Musk’s outbursts. The former President called Musk “disrespectful” and warned of “serious consequences” for undermining his administration’s efforts.

But in a surprising twist, Trump softened his tone during a public rally in Ohio, calling Musk a “wonderful guy” and a “smart guy who campaigned with me.”

The public back-and-forth has left political observers confused about the true state of the Trump-Musk relationship, which appears to have devolved from camaraderie to calculated politicking.

Musk, meanwhile, appears undeterred. On June 5, he posted:

“Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House, and the Republicans would be 51–49 in the Senate.”

He later admitted his comments may have gone too far, deleting earlier posts including conspiracy-laden remarks and an endorsement of Trump’s impeachment.

If the One Big, Beautiful Bill is passed, it could redefine the landscape of American governance—and possibly spark the birth of a new political party.

Musk’s threats aren’t just empty rhetoric. His massive following, political donations, and media attention could shift the political center of gravity in a country already polarized by ideology and fatigued by partisanship.

And while many are skeptical about the viability of a third party, history has shown that disruptors with money and momentum can, at the very least, alter national conversations—and election outcomes.

As the July 4 deadline looms, all eyes are now on Capitol Hill—and on Elon Musk, the man who’s gone from Silicon Valley CEO to potential party founder, riding a wave of populist frustration and fiscal alarm.
