Indian Railways Launches ‘RailOne’ Super App to Transform Passenger Experience: Unified Booking, Food, Support & More

In a groundbreaking move set to redefine the digital rail experience, Indian Railways has launched a comprehensive new mobile platform—RailOne, designed to integrate all key passenger services into a single, user-friendly app. The super app is now available for both Android and iOS users, bringing much-needed coherence to a system previously scattered across multiple platforms.

From booking reserved and unreserved train tickets to ordering meals on the go, tracking real-time train status, accessing coach positions, and even filing grievances—RailOne puts everything under one digital roof. The initiative is part of a strategic effort by Indian Railways and its tech wing CRIS (Centre for Railway Information Systems) to streamline services, eliminate redundant apps, and address years of user frustration.

A Clean Slate with Smart Design

RailOne is not just about functionality—it’s about ease of use. The app boasts a sleek, modern interface that’s intuitive for users of all age groups. Whether you’re a tech-savvy traveller or someone just trying to check your PNR status, RailOne ensures smooth navigation.

Users can sign in using their existing IRCTC Rail Connect or UTS on Mobile credentials, or register afresh using mobile number and OTP. Additional layers of security have been built in, including mPIN and biometric login, for both ease and protection.

No More App Overload

Before RailOne, Indian Railways services were divided among multiple apps like:

  • IRCTC Rail Connect (for ticket booking)
  • UTS (for unreserved tickets)
  • National Train Enquiry System (for train status)
  • IRCTC eCatering (for food)
  • Rail Madad (for complaints)

This fragmented system often led to user confusion, app crashes, and especially bitter experiences during Tatkal bookings. With RailOne, those concerns are being actively addressed.

A key addition is the integrated RWallet digital wallet, which allows users to transact seamlessly for any service—be it bookings, meal orders, or parcel queries.

Major Reforms Alongside App Rollout

Coinciding with the app launch, Indian Railways has announced three significant upgrades to its reservation system:

  1. Early Reservation Charting
Starting now, final reservation charts will be prepared 8 hours before departure (up from 4 hours). For trains departing before 2 PM, charting will conclude by 9 PM the previous night, enabling quicker waitlist clearance and better planning for travellers.
  2. Tatkal Bookings Only for Verified Users (Effective July 1, 2025)
In a move to curb misuse, Tatkal ticket bookings will only be available to users verified via Aadhaar or DigiLocker, along with OTP confirmation. This step ensures genuine access and deters bots and illegal agents.
  3. Massive Backend Upgrade by December 2025
CRIS is building a next-generation reservation system capable of handling 1.5 lakh bookings and 4 million inquiries per minute. It will also include:

    • Multilingual support
    • Accessibility features for Divyangjan, students, and patients
    • Improved uptime, especially during high-demand booking windows

Why RailOne Matters

India is one of the largest rail networks in the world, with over 23 million daily passengers. Until now, navigating Indian Railways’ services digitally often required juggling between different apps and enduring glitches, especially during peak hours.

RailOne not only solves those issues—it also represents a forward-thinking step into the future of public transport digitization. By making services smarter, faster, and unified, Indian Railways is giving commuters an experience that matches global standards.

Whether you’re a daily commuter, a long-distance traveller, or someone booking tickets for family, RailOne promises smoother journeys both online and on the tracks.
