PM Narendra Modi Champions “Zero Defect, Zero Effect” Manufacturing to Propel Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat

PM Narendra Modi, speaking at a major public event in Bengaluru, called for flawless, environmentally friendly manufacturing under the mantra “Zero Defect, Zero Effect” to further energize the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. Emphasizing the critical role of Bengaluru and Karnataka’s youth, Modi urged them to lead innovation and deliver high-quality products that leave no negative impact on the environment.

Highlighting India’s remarkable economic ascent from the 10th to the 5th largest economy over the past 11 years, Modi stressed the need for the country to focus on a new frontier: a “Tech Atmanirbhar Bharat” aimed at driving technological self-reliance through innovation and indigenous product development.

“Now is the time to give more priority to the needs of India and move ahead faster in developing new products,” Modi told the enthusiastic crowd, signaling a call to action for Indian entrepreneurs, engineers, and manufacturers.

Rapid Economic Growth and Infrastructure Milestones

PM Modi credited the government’s “reform, perform, and transform” approach along with clear intentions and honest efforts for India’s rapid economic progress. He confidently stated that India is on track to become the world’s third-largest economy soon.

Backing this vision with tangible infrastructure achievements, Modi recounted dramatic expansions since 2014:

  • Metro rail networks growing from 5 cities to over 1,000 km across 24 cities

  • Rail electrification doubling from 20,000 km to over 40,000 km

  • Airports increasing from 74 to more than 160 operational facilities

  • National waterways expanding from three to 30

Bengaluru as the Beacon of New India’s Rise

Modi praised Bengaluru’s transformation into a global technology hub and said its people’s hard work has firmly placed the city on the world IT map. He pointed to the city’s youth as key contributors to Operation Sindoor’s success—an operation credited to homegrown defense technology and Make in India’s strength.

“We are seeing Bangalore emerging as a city that has become a symbol of the rise of the new India,” the Prime Minister remarked, lauding Karnataka’s talent and innovation spirit.

Boosting Modern Infrastructure and Rail Travel

During the visit, Modi inaugurated Bengaluru Metro’s new Yellow Line spanning 19 km with 16 stations, part of a Rs 7,160 crore expansion project that will serve over six lakh daily commuters. He also laid the foundation stone for the ambitious Rs 15,610 crore Phase-3 metro project.

Adding to the momentum, Modi flagged off three Vande Bharat Express trains, underlining the government’s commitment to world-class rail travel and modern infrastructure.

While celebrating these domestic advancements, Modi’s remarks come amid escalating trade tensions with the United States. The US recently imposed tariffs totaling 50% on Indian imports, citing concerns over India’s purchase of Russian oil. Despite this, Modi’s focus remains on reinforcing India’s self-reliance and technological prowess as keys to long-term economic resilience.
