India Women Crush Pakistan by 88 Runs to Strengthen Lead in ICC Women’s World Cup

India Women produced a commanding performance to defeat Pakistan Women by 88 runs in the sixth match of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025/26 at the R. Premadasa Stadium. The victory, built on a combination of solid batting and incisive bowling, reaffirmed India’s dominance in the tournament.

Electing to field after winning the toss, Pakistan Women were immediately put under pressure by India’s disciplined batting lineup. India posted a competitive total of 247 in their full quota of 50 overs, thanks to key contributions from Harleen Deol and Richa Ghosh. Deol scored a steady 46 off 65 balls, while Ghosh’s quickfire 35* off just 20 deliveries gave India momentum in the latter stages of the innings. Jemimah Rodrigues also played an important role, contributing 32 runs from 37 balls to help India reach a challenging total.

Pakistan’s Diana Baig led the bowling attack, claiming 4/69 in her 10 overs, while Fatima Sana chipped in with 2 wickets for 38 runs. Sadia Iqbal managed 2/47, keeping India’s scoring in check during crucial phases.

Chasing 248, Pakistan Women struggled to build meaningful partnerships. Sidra Ameen fought valiantly with an 81-run effort from 106 balls, and Natalia Pervaiz added 33 runs from 46 balls. However, India’s bowlers consistently applied pressure, preventing Pakistan from accelerating. Kranti Goud starred with the ball, taking 3 wickets for just 20 runs in her 10-over spell. Deepti Sharma and Sneh Rana also contributed with key wickets, dismantling Pakistan’s batting lineup and restricting them to 159 in 43 overs.

India’s all-round performance highlighted their depth in both batting and bowling, with quick scoring, effective partnerships, and strategic bowling plans keeping them firmly in control. The win not only cemented India’s position in the World Cup standings but also served as a statement of intent for the rest of the tournament.
