Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made his debut on Truth Social, the social media platform founded by former US President Donald Trump, marking a new chapter in his global digital outreach. In his first post, PM Modi shared a picture with “his good friend” President Trump and expressed excitement about engaging with the platform’s audience.
“Delighted to be on Truth Social! Looking forward to interacting with all the passionate voices here and engaging in meaningful conversations in the times to come,” PM Modi wrote in his first post.
Trump Shares Modi’s Podcast on Truth Social
In his second post, PM Modi shared the link to his recent three-hour podcast with renowned podcaster and computer scientist Lex Fridman. The podcast covered a wide range of topics, including leadership, global affairs, and Modi’s life journey.
President Donald Trump highlighted the podcast by sharing it on his Truth Social account, showcasing the growing digital connection between the two influential leaders. In response, PM Modi thanked Trump for the gesture, saying, “Thank you, my friend, President Trump. I’ve covered a wide range of topics, including my life journey, India’s civilisational outlook, global issues and more.”
“Mutual Trust Remained Unshaken”
During his conversation with Fridman, PM Modi spoke warmly about his relationship with Trump, noting that their mutual trust remained intact even when Trump was out of office during Joe Biden’s presidency.
When asked what he admires about Trump, Modi recalled a memorable moment during the ‘Howdy Modi’ event in Houston. Modi shared that Trump had ignored security protocol during his first term and agreed to take a lap around the stadium with him, a gesture that Modi described as an act of “courage and trust.”
“I was touched by his courage and his trust in me,” Modi said, adding that Trump showed similar courage after surviving an assassination attempt during the presidential campaign.
A New Era of Digital Diplomacy
PM Modi’s entry into Truth Social signifies a strategic move to strengthen his presence on a platform where Trump commands significant influence. This development underscores the personal and political rapport between the two leaders and their shared vision of putting their respective countries first.
