A shocking incident unfolded in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, where a BJP district executive member, Yogesh Rohila, allegedly opened fire on his wife and three children, resulting in the tragic death of all three children and leaving his wife critically injured.
The horrific event occurred on Saturday afternoon in Sangathera village, Gangoh. According to police reports, around 2 PM, Rohila had a heated argument with his wife Neha (38). The confrontation escalated, leading Rohila to lock his uncle, who attempted to intervene, in a separate room. He then used his licensed 32-bore Indian-made pistol to shoot his wife and children — daughter Shraddha (11), and sons Devansh (6) and Shivansh (5) — at point-blank range.
Neighbors, alarmed by the sound of gunfire, rushed to the scene, where they found the family members lying in pools of blood. Shraddha had already succumbed to her injuries, while Neha and the two boys were rushed to the hospital. Tragically, both sons died en route, and Neha remains in critical condition at a higher medical center.
Authorities arrested Rohila at the scene as villagers apprehended him while he attempted to flee. The police recovered the firearm used in the crime. Preliminary investigations revealed that Rohila suspected his wife of infidelity, which allegedly drove him to commit the heinous act.
Disturbingly, this isn’t the first tragedy linked to Rohila. In 2008, his parents and three sisters reportedly died by consuming poison, a case in which he had accused neighbors of foul play. However, later investigations charged him with abetment to suicide and tampering with evidence, though he was eventually acquitted.
Saharanpur SSP Rohit Singh Sajwan confirmed that a thorough investigation is underway. The forensics team has collected crucial evidence from the scene, and authorities are delving into Rohila’s past to uncover further details.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, sparking outrage and grief. As the investigation unfolds, locals await justice for the innocent lives lost in this heart-wrenching tragedy.
