In a significant move aimed at streamlining the government recruitment process, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh announced on Saturday that the central government is working on developing a Unified Job Application Portal. This initiative is expected to ease the burden on job seekers by providing them with a single platform to apply for multiple government job vacancies, thereby saving both time and effort.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting at the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), chaired by Minister Jitendra Singh. He reiterated the government’s commitment to adopting technological innovations to make the recruitment process more efficient and transparent.
Enhancing the Recruitment Process
According to an official statement released by the Ministry of Personnel, the minister has instructed officials to expedite the development of the Single Job Application Portal to eliminate the need for candidates to apply through multiple platforms. Speaking to PTI after the meeting, Dr. Singh mentioned that work on the initiative has already begun, and the project is set to be completed within a stipulated timeframe.
Regional Language Exams and Faster Selection Process
In a move to make recruitment exams more inclusive, the government has introduced examinations in 13 regional languages, in addition to Hindi and English. Dr. Singh also highlighted the government’s long-term goal of conducting recruitment exams in all 22 languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
Additionally, the minister noted a significant reduction in the recruitment process duration. Previously, the selection process took an average of 15 months, which has now been shortened to 8 months, with further improvements planned for the future.
Tech-Driven Governance and Mission Karmayogi
To ensure equal opportunities for all candidates, the minister emphasized the need for developing standard guidelines for computer-based examinations. He also reviewed the progress of Mission Karmayogi, a skill development initiative aimed at enhancing the efficiency of civil servants. Launched in September 2020, the program has already onboarded around 8.9 million government employees.
Artificial Intelligence in Governance
Dr. Jitendra Singh also stressed the importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in governance. He cited CPGRAMS 2.0, an AI-enabled Public Grievance Redressal System, as an example of how AI is being leveraged to improve administrative efficiency. The minister directed officials to integrate cutting-edge technologies into governance and develop best practices that can serve as a model for other government departments.
This initiative marks a major step towards simplifying and accelerating the government recruitment process, ensuring greater accessibility, efficiency, and transparency for job aspirants across the country.
