HK vs QAT Quadrangular T20I Series in Hong Kong 2025: Hong Kong Thrash Qatar by 68 Runs in T20I Clash as Rath, Barkat Star in Quadrangular Series

HK vs QAT Quadrangular T20I Series in Hong Kong 2025: The home crowd at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground had plenty to cheer for as Hong Kong defeated Qatar by 68 runs in the 4th match of the Quadrangular T20I Series 2025. It was a clinical all-round display from the hosts, with Anshuman Rath’s elegant 58, a blistering cameo from Babar Hayat, and a match-winning spell by Waqas Barkat (4/18) sealing a comfortable win.

Winning the toss, Qatar opted to bowl first, hoping to restrict Hong Kong on a relatively batting-friendly surface. But their plan fell apart quickly as Hong Kong’s top order went on the offensive. Anshuman Rath anchored the innings with a measured 58 off 42 balls, supported by Babar Hayat, who smashed 42 from just 23 deliveries, including some eye-catching shots over the ropes.

Zeeshan Ali joined the party with a quick 38 off 25, pushing the total close to the 200 mark. Despite Mohammed Irshad’s 4/24, which helped slow the momentum at the death, Hong Kong posted a daunting 197/7 in 20 overs – a score that always looked above par.

In reply, Qatar never really got going. Shahzaib Jamil Ahmed (37 off 22) gave them a glimmer of hope at the top, but wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals. Bukhari Munchummal (25 off 19) and Muhammad Zaman (16 off 14) showed brief resistance, but the disciplined Hong Kong bowling attack was relentless.

The pick of the bowlers was Waqas Barkat, who ripped through the middle order with a fiery spell of 4/18 in his 4 overs. He was well supported by Ayush Shukla (2/19) and Ehsan Khan (2/17), who ensured there was no way back for Qatar. The visitors were bowled out for 129 in 19.1 overs, falling well short of the target.
