In a major step towards streamlining land records and enhancing transparency in revenue administration, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy formally launched the ‘Bhu Bharathi’ revenue portal in Hyderabad on Saturday evening. The innovative digital platform is aimed at resolving long-pending land disputes and ensuring greater land security across the state.
Addressing revenue officials at the launch event, CM Reddy emphasized that the Bhu Bharathi portal would play a vital role in providing a permanent and transparent solution to land ownership issues. “The Bhu Bharathi initiative will strengthen land records and provide a dispute-free revenue policy. It will be a one-stop solution to address all land-related concerns faced by citizens,” he said. The Chief Minister also announced that Bhudhar cards will be issued to landowners. These cards will contain comprehensive digital records of ownership, boundaries, and classification of land, marking a significant move toward e-governance in the land sector.
Pilot Rollout in Four Mandals

The portal has been launched on a pilot basis in four mandals of the state —Khammam, Mulugu, Kodangal, and Kamareddy. In these areas, Mandal Revenue Officers (MROs) have been tasked with visiting each revenue village to address and resolve all pending land disputes and anomalies by May 1, 2025. This decentralized approach is expected to foster greater engagement at the grassroots level and improve the accuracy of land records.
Following the completion of the pilot phase, the government plans to extend the initiative further. From May 2, one block in each of the 33 districts of Telangana will be selected for the implementation of similar revenue reforms and grievance redressal. Subsequently, from June 2, marking the Telangana Formation Day, the portal and its mechanisms will be expanded statewide.
A Landmark Move for Land Reforms
The Bhu Bharathi portal is part of the Telangana government’s broader vision to create a citizen-centric, transparent, and efficient revenue administration system. Experts believe that this digital transformation will not only reduce litigation but also empower farmers and landowners with secure documentation.
With this launch, Telangana has joined the growing list of Indian states leveraging technology to digitize land records and improve governance. The state government envisions that Bhu Bharathi will serve as a model for other states seeking to enhance accountability and transparency in land management.
