PM Modi Unveils ‘SACHET’ App: In his latest ‘Mann Ki Baat’ address on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the nation to a new life-saving tool — the SACHET mobile app. Designed by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), this innovative platform promises real-time, geo-targeted disaster alerts, aiming to keep citizens safe and informed during emergencies.
PM Modi emphasized the critical role of the app, stating, “You can now get help in this alertness from a special app on your mobile. This app can save you from getting trapped in any natural disaster.”
The SACHET app stands out with its ability to deliver timely alerts directly from authorized government sources. Whether it’s a flood, cyclone, landslide, tsunami, forest fire, avalanche, storm, hurricane, or lightning, the app ensures that users receive immediate warnings, helping them prepare or evacuate when necessary.
One of the app’s most remarkable features is its accessibility. Recognizing India’s linguistic diversity, SACHET supports 12 Indian languages, complete with translation and a read-aloud function, making it easier for users from all backgrounds to understand critical information.
Key Features of the SACHET App:
- Real-Time Alerts: Get instant notifications for disasters affecting your current location or any subscribed state/district.
- Weather Updates: Access daily weather forecasts and reports from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
- Safety Resources: The app provides essential “Dos & Don’ts” for various disasters, emergency helpline numbers, and details about affected areas.
- Satellite Connectivity: Ensures that users stay connected even in remote areas during critical times.
PM Modi encouraged citizens to not only download the app but also spread the word among friends and family. “Through this app, you can receive updates related to the weather department. The special thing is that ‘SACHET’ app also provides a lot of information in regional languages. You too should take advantage of this app and share your experiences with us,” he urged.
With natural disasters becoming increasingly unpredictable due to climate change, early warning systems like SACHET could be a game-changer. By combining technology with accessibility, India takes a significant step forward in disaster preparedness.
Citizens are encouraged to download SACHET today and stay one step ahead when it comes to their safety and the safety of their loved ones.
