The much-anticipated IPL 2025 showdown between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals kicked off with a key decision at the toss. Playing at a crucial stage of the tournament, SRH captain Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bowl first at 7:30 PM on Monday, May 5. With both teams eyeing a strong finish in the league phase, this decision could shape the course of the match.
Cummins expressed confidence in his team’s depth and match-winning capabilities, emphasizing the need to stick to the basics and deliver a complete performance. “We’ve talked about a few things, haven’t had a complete game yet. Want to do the basics well. Everyone’s a match-winner,” he said.
Delhi Capitals skipper Axar Patel admitted he too would have preferred to bowl first but remained optimistic about setting a challenging target. “Looks like a good wicket and it shouldn’t change much. We’re focusing on maintaining momentum and not letting pressure affect us,” Axar stated.
Both teams have retained their previous playing elevens, with SRH relying on their deep batting lineup and DC fielding a balanced combination of three seamers and three spinners. The match is expected to be a thriller, with both sides treating it as a virtual must-win.
