Ayodhya Witnesses Historic Moment: Ram Darbar Consecrated at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi on Ganga Dussehra

Ram Darbar Consecrated at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi: In a spiritually and historically significant moment, Ayodhya witnessed the grand consecration of the Ram Darbar and seven newly built temples within the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple complex on Thursday. The event, held on the auspicious occasion of Ganga Dussehra, marks a new chapter in India’s centuries-long cultural and religious journey.

This is the second major consecration inside the temple after the January 22, 2024 installation of Ram Lalla’s idol in the sanctum sanctorum. The new ceremony, however, extended the divine presence of Lord Ram, Goddess Sita (Janaki), and Lord Hanuman to the first floor of the temple — now officially opened for worship.

A Divine Moment Centuries in the Making

The ceremony holds deep emotional and cultural value for Hindus worldwide. Mahant Raghuvar Sharan, chief priest of Rasik Niwas Temple, remarked:

“This year’s Ganga Dussehra is not just sacred, it’s historic. After a 500-year wait, Rajarama — our beloved Lord Ram — now graces the first floor of his own temple. This is a moment of fulfillment and faith.”

The Ram Darbar unveiled during the event presented the deities in a royal and serene form. Pilgrims present at the scene described it as a surreal and tearful experience, saying they felt the presence of the divine in every corner of the temple.

CM Yogi Adityanath Leads the Ceremonial Prayers

Adding to the significance, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath offered prayers before the newly installed idols and participated in the rituals before the formal consecration. He spent time in silent prayer, later expressing his pride in witnessing a historic religious moment unfold in Ayodhya.

The temple was adorned in full splendor — draped in fresh floral garlands, vibrant lights, traditional lamps, and ceremonial decor that created an ethereal spiritual environment.

Devotees Pour Into Ayodhya in Massive Numbers

The consecration drew thousands of devotees from across India and even international communities. By early morning, the streets of Ayodhya were overflowing with pilgrims, many of whom had arrived a day in advance to ensure their spot at this once-in-a-lifetime event.

Chants of “Jai Shri Ram” echoed through the city as people, from young children to the elderly, waited in long queues for a glimpse of the newly consecrated idols.

Ganga Dussehra: A Sacred Date for the Ceremony

The timing of the consecration on Ganga Dussehra added to the holiness of the event. According to Hindu mythology, Ganga Dussehra commemorates the descent of the River Ganga to Earth from the matted locks of Lord Shiva, following the deep penance of King Bhagirath. Aligning the consecration of Lord Ram’s royal image with this sacred day elevated the spiritual significance even further.

High Security and Advanced Monitoring in Place

With the magnitude of the event and the large turnout, Ayodhya’s security apparatus was on high alert. The administration deployed multi-layered security, including personnel from the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), and civil police.

Surveillance drones, CCTV networks, and other high-tech monitoring systems ensured smooth crowd control and safety throughout the city.

SP Security Balaramachari Dubey and temple construction in-charge Gopal Rao personally oversaw the arrangements, ensuring the event went off seamlessly.

Second Major Spiritual Milestone at Ram Temple

This was the second large-scale spiritual event after the January 2024 consecration, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi installed the Ram Lalla idol in the sanctum. With Thursday’s addition of Ram Darbar and other deities on the first floor, the temple’s vision of becoming a complete center of Sanatan Dharma is progressing rapidly.

Future consecrations and construction are planned for additional levels and adjoining temples within the complex, making Ayodhya a centerpiece of global spiritual tourism.

Ayodhya’s Emergence as a Global Spiritual Destination

With each milestone, Ayodhya is transforming into a world-renowned spiritual and cultural hub. Hotels, infrastructure projects, and heritage walks are being developed rapidly to accommodate the increasing flow of pilgrims and tourists.

As one devotee from Maharashtra noted,

“I never imagined I’d see this in my lifetime. It feels like we’ve entered a divine era — Ayodhya is truly Ram’s city now.”

The consecration of the Ram Darbar on Ganga Dussehra is not just a religious ceremony — it is a monumental celebration of faith, perseverance, and cultural identity. As Lord Ram now resides on the first floor of the grand Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, Ayodhya’s spiritual flame shines brighter than ever, beckoning devotees from every corner of the world to be part of this divine chapter in India’s history.
