Bathinda, Punjab – June 12: In a shocking turn of events, popular Instagram influencer Kamal Kaur, also known as Kamal Kaur Bhabhi, was found dead inside a locked car near Adesh Medical University in Bathinda on Wednesday night. The Punjab Police have launched a murder investigation, raising serious concerns about the safety of social media personalities amid rising online threats.
Who Was Kamal Kaur?
Kamal Kaur, whose real name was Kanchan Kumari, was a 25-year-old influencer from Ludhiana, well-known for her bold and often controversial content on Instagram. With over 383,000 followers, she was a familiar face in Punjab’s digital space, frequently posting reels that garnered both attention and criticism. Some of her content had sparked backlash, and sources suggest she had received threats in recent months over her videos.
She lived with her mother, two brothers, and two sisters, and had reportedly informed them about her travel plans to Bathinda. That was the last time her family saw her alive.
Disturbing Discovery in Bathinda
Her body was discovered inside a locked vehicle, parked for hours near Adesh Medical University. The car was registered in Ludhiana district. Concerned locals reported the matter to the police after a foul smell began emanating from the parked car. Upon investigation, authorities found her body and immediately began treating the case as suspicious.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Bathinda), Amneet Kondal, confirmed that the case is being treated as a homicide. “Prima facie, there seems something fishy, and an FIR under murder charges is being registered,” Kondal told reporters.
