Abhishek Sharma Blitz, Klaasen Steady as SRH Crush LSG by 6 Wickets in High-Scoring Thriller

Lucknow, May 18: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) produced a clinical run chase to defeat Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 6 wickets with 10 balls to spare in Match 61 of IPL 2025 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium B Ground. Powered by a breathtaking 20-ball 59 from Abhishek Sharma and composed efforts from Heinrich Klaasen (47 off 28) and Ishan Kishan (35 off 28), SRH chased down LSG’s competitive 205/7 with remarkable ease, finishing at 206/4 in 18.2 overs.

Abhishek Sharma’s Explosive Start

Chasing a daunting target of 206, SRH needed a flying start — and Abhishek Sharma delivered exactly that. The left-hander tore into the LSG bowling attack from the outset, smashing 59 runs off just 20 balls, laced with blazing boundaries and effortless sixes. His innings not only set the tone for the chase but also dismantled LSG’s early hopes of applying pressure.

Abhishek’s fiery knock came at a jaw-dropping strike rate of 295, and by the time he departed in the 6th over, SRH had already stormed past 80 runs in the Powerplay.

Middle-Order Stability: Klaasen & Kishan

After Abhishek’s dismissal, Ishan Kishan played the anchor role with a patient 35 off 28 balls, keeping the scoreboard ticking. The southpaw ensured SRH didn’t lose momentum while Klaasen took charge of acceleration.

The South African keeper-batter once again proved why he is among the best finishers this season. Klaasen’s 47 off 28 balls, with calculated aggression, pushed SRH into the driver’s seat. His partnership with Kamindu Mendis (32 off 21) sealed the game for Hyderabad without any late drama.

SRH Bowlers Keep LSG in Check

Earlier in the evening, LSG posted 205/7 after being put in to bat. Openers Mitchell Marsh (65 off 39) and Aiden Markram (61 off 38) gave them a solid start with a 115-run stand. Nicholas Pooran’s quickfire 45 off 26 added the finishing touches.

However, SRH’s bowlers did well to prevent LSG from going beyond 210. Eshan Malinga continued his breakout season with figures of 2/28, while Nitish Kumar Reddy and Harsh Dubey chipped in with a wicket each.

In the end, the total proved below par on a batting-friendly Lucknow surface as SRH chased it down with ease.
