‘Raid 2’ Trailer: Ajay Devgn is back in action as the fearless IRS officer Amay Patnaik in the much-anticipated sequel Raid 2, and the trailer launch in Mumbai on Tuesday gave fans a thrilling first look. Accompanied by his co-star Vaani Kapoor, who joins the franchise as his on-screen wife, the event was buzzing with media excitement. Notably, Vaani replaces Ileana D’Cruz, who played the role in the first installment.

Addressing the change in the cast, Ajay Devgn responded to a journalist’s query about the switch with a calm and clever analogy: “That’s true, but the character can change. I mean, if you see a lot of Hollywood films, you know Sean Connery is no more James Bond. It’s the character you follow.” His words subtly emphasized the importance of the story and the role over the actor playing it.

The gripping trailer kicks off with Ajay Devgn’s character storming into the mansion of a politically powerful and cunning antagonist played by Riteish Deshmukh, who portrays ‘Dadabhai’. This raid marks Amay Patnaik’s 75th and promises to be the most complex yet. As the narrative unfolds, it becomes evident that Dadabhai won’t go down without a fight. The tension builds with a powerful exchange that’s already grabbing attention: Riteish asks, “Pandava kab se Chakravyuh rachne laga?” to which Ajay coolly replies, “Kaun kaha main Pandava hoon? Main toh poora Mahabharat hoon.”

Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, who also helmed the first Raid, the sequel promises a high-octane storyline rooted in corruption, power, and justice. The film pays homage to its roots with a few surprise appearances by Saurabh Shukla, who played the villain in the original. His cameos serve as a nostalgic nod to the intense confrontations and the undying resolve of Amay Patnaik.

With Vaani Kapoor bringing a fresh dynamic to the narrative and Riteish Deshmukh stepping into a strong antagonist’s role, Raid 2 is shaping up to be a fiery showdown between good and evil. The film is all set to release in theatres on May 1, 2025, and it already has fans counting down the days.
