Amit Shah and Nitish Kumar Hold Key Meeting in Patna
Patna, October 17 — In a significant political development ahead of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, Union Home Minister Amit Shah met Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at his official residence located at 1, Aney Marg, Patna. The closed-door meeting, which lasted around 20 minutes, came shortly after the NDA announced its seat-sharing arrangement in Bihar.
The meeting is being seen as a crucial step toward strengthening the alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Janata Dal (United), marking their first face-to-face discussion since the finalization of the seat-sharing formula.
First Meeting After Seat-Sharing Deal in NDA
The NDA alliance recently finalized its seat-sharing plan for the upcoming elections, with both BJP and JD(U) agreeing to contest 101 seats each out of Bihar’s 243 assembly constituencies. This marks the first time that the JD(U) has agreed to fight on an equal footing with the BJP — a significant political shift in the state’s alliance dynamics.
During the meeting, Shah and Nitish are believed to have discussed election strategies, campaign messaging, and local-level coordination. While officials described it as a “courtesy visit,” political observers noted that such meetings often set the tone for the months leading up to the polls.
Senior BJP and JD(U) Leaders Present
Alongside Amit Shah and Nitish Kumar, several top leaders from both parties attended the meeting. The BJP delegation included Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, State President Dilip Jaiswal, Bihar in-charge Vinod Tawde, and Election In-charge Dharmendra Pradhan.
From the JD(U) side, Acting President Sanjay Jha and other senior leaders were also present. The gathering reflected a show of unity within the NDA, emphasizing that despite past political ups and downs, both parties are aligned on their common goal — ensuring the alliance’s victory in Bihar.
A Courtesy Call with a Strategic Undertone
Though party officials described the meeting as a “courtesy visit”, sources suggest that discussions went beyond formality. Both leaders reportedly exchanged views on key campaign themes, candidate coordination, and public outreach plans for the upcoming elections.
According to insiders, Shah and Nitish agreed to focus on development-oriented narratives rather than confrontational politics, highlighting the achievements of the NDA government in Bihar.
After the meeting, Amit Shah left for Patna airport to continue his three-day visit to Bihar, where he is scheduled to address multiple rallies to kickstart BJP’s state-wide campaign.
Amit Shah’s Bihar Tour: Launching NDA’s Election Campaign
Amit Shah’s visit holds great significance for the NDA’s electoral roadmap. He arrived in Patna on Thursday evening and will address a massive rally in Taraiya, Chapra district on Friday afternoon. The rally marks the official launch of the BJP’s election campaign in Bihar, with Shah expected to outline the party’s vision for governance, development, and stability in the state.
Over the next few days, he will meet local party leaders, review booth-level preparations, and strategize on voter outreach programs designed to mobilize rural and youth voters.
The Road Ahead: NDA’s Power Equation in Bihar
The 2025 Bihar Assembly Election will be held in two phases, with both BJP and JD(U) contesting on equal numbers of seats for the first time. The remaining 41 seats have been distributed among other NDA allies.
This power balance is crucial, as Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) has traditionally contested more seats than the BJP in previous elections. The decision to maintain parity signals mutual trust and a renewed sense of partnership within the NDA.
Political analysts believe that both leaders are now trying to project stability and solidarity, especially after years of shifting alliances and political turbulence in Bihar.
A Symbol of Unity Before the Battle
The Shah–Nitish meeting serves as a symbolic reaffirmation of unity within the NDA ahead of one of the most critical elections in Bihar’s political history. The image of both leaders sitting together at the CM’s residence sends a clear message — the NDA is entering the 2025 polls as one team with one mission.
As Amit Shah continues his Bihar tour and Nitish Kumar strengthens local coordination, the political landscape in the state is set for a fierce yet strategic battle.
