Launched in 2019 and revamped in 2025, this welfare scheme provides monthly pensions to retired accredited journalists from Bihar who have at least 20 years of media experience. It is administered by the Information & Public Relations Department (IPRD), Bihar.

Who Is Eligible For Bihar Patrakar Samman Pension Scheme 2025?

To apply for this pension scheme, the applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a resident of Bihar.
  • Must be a retired journalist with at least 20 years of experience in the media (print or electronic).
  • Should be minimum 60 years of age.
  • Must be accredited by the Bihar IPRD.
  • Should not be receiving any other government pension (state or central).
  • Must have no criminal record.

Widows of eligible journalists can also apply for a family pension of ₹10,000 per month.

As of now, there is no online application portal. The process is offline:

  1. Download the application form from the official IPRD Bihar website or collect it from the IPRD office.
  2. Fill in the details carefully and attach the required documents.
  3. Submit the completed form to the Director, Information & Public Relations Department, Patna.
  4. Retain a copy or receipt of submission for tracking purposes.

The application will be verified and once approved, the pension will be credited monthly to the applicant’s bank account.
