Disappointing news has emerged for fans of South Indian superstar Chiyaan Vikram, as his much-anticipated film ‘Veera Dheera Sooran’ has encountered major legal complications. The film, which was set for a March 27, 2025 release, has seen its USA premiere shows and morning screenings in India canceled due to an ongoing legal dispute.
Legal Issues Halt ‘Veera Dheera Sooran’ Release
According to 123Telugu, the morning shows of ‘Veera Dheera Sooran’ were removed from PVR Inox and several other multiplex chains in major cities, including Hyderabad. This decision was reportedly made due to a legal case involving the film’s producer Riya Shibu and B4U, a company that claims rights over the movie’s digital distribution.
What Is the Legal Dispute About?
As per reports, B4U filed a petition in the Delhi High Court on Wednesday, seeking to postpone the release of ‘Veera Dheera Sooran’ until their contractual issues with HR Pictures, the film’s production company, are resolved. B4U has accused Riya Shibu of violating their agreement by selling the movie’s OTT (over-the-top) streaming rights before its theatrical release.
Following this, the Delhi High Court reportedly issued an interim stay on the movie’s release until 10:30 AM on March 28, 2025. Due to this ruling, the 9 AM morning shows were immediately canceled, and all further screenings in India and the USA were also put on hold.
Producer Ordered to Pay Rs 7 Crore
According to Sun News, the court has instructed Riya Shibu to deposit Rs 7 crore immediately and submit all case-related documents within 48 hours. These developments have raised uncertainty over the film’s theatrical release.
USA Premieres Canceled Amid Legal Battle
Not just in India, but the movie’s USA premiere screenings have also been called off due to the legal tangle. The unexpected cancellations have left international distributors and fans disappointed.
Clash with ‘Sikandar’ and Other Big Films
‘Veera Dheera Sooran’ was scheduled to compete at the box office with Salman Khan’s ‘Sikandar’ on March 27, 2025. Additionally, other major South Indian releases, including ‘L2: Empuraan,’ ‘Robinhood,’ and ‘Mad 2’, were also hitting the screens on the same day. However, with the latest court ruling, it remains uncertain when ‘Veera Dheera Sooran’ will finally be released.
