Citroen India is gearing up to introduce an exciting new range of Dark Edition models, bringing a stylish and mysterious blacked-out aesthetic to its lineup. The French automaker has teased the Dark Edition versions of its Basalt coupe-SUV, C3 Aircross SUV, and C3 hatchback ahead of their official launch. These special edition models will feature significant design enhancements while maintaining their mechanical specifications.
Blacked-Out Exterior Enhancements
The most striking update in the Dark Edition models will be the exterior design. All three models—the Basalt, C3 Aircross, and C3 hatchback—will sport a full-black paint scheme, replacing traditional chrome elements with dark accents. The grille, badges, and alloy wheels will receive a glossy black or matte finish, enhancing their aggressive appeal. Additionally, the headlamps may feature a smoked-out treatment to further emphasize the all-black theme.
Upgraded Interior with Dark Accents
Inside the cabin, the Dark Edition models will introduce black leatherette upholstery with contrast stitching, replacing the standard plastic dashboard elements. Dark accents are expected around the AC vents and other trims to match the overall theme. However, the features list is likely to remain unchanged, as these editions will be based on the top-spec variants of each model.
No Mechanical Changes Under the Hood
While the exterior and interior aesthetics will undergo a transformation, Citroen will retain the existing powertrain options. The Dark Edition models will continue to offer:
- An 82 hp, 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine
- A 110 hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, available with a 6-speed automatic transmission
The Dark Edition variants are expected to be offered exclusively with the more powerful turbocharged petrol engine.
Expected Launch and Price
Citroen has not yet confirmed the official launch date, but the teaser hints at an imminent debut. Given the design upgrades and special edition status, the Dark Edition variants could carry a slight premium over their standard counterparts.
