DC vs LSG IPL 2025: In a clinical all-round display, Delhi Capitals (DC) cruised to an emphatic 8-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 40 of the IPL 2025 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium B Ground. Chasing a target of 160, DC chased down the total with 13 balls to spare, thanks to powerful batting performances from KL Rahul (57 off 42)* and Abishek Porel (51 off 36), along with a stunning bowling effort earlier from Mukesh Kumar, who bagged 4 wickets for 33 runs.

DC’s Bowlers Set the Tone Early

After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Delhi’s bowlers struck with discipline and control. Pacer Mukesh Kumar was the standout performer, delivering pinpoint yorkers and clever variations to dismantle LSG’s batting lineup. His 4-wicket haul included key scalps of Mitchell Marsh, Ayush Badoni, and the dangerous Nicholas Pooran.

Mitchell Marsh (45 off 36) and Ayush Badoni (36 off 21) provided some middle-over resistance, while Aiden Markram top-scored with a fluent 52 off 33, which included six boundaries and a six. Despite these individual efforts, LSG could only manage 159/6 in their 20 overs.

Apart from Mukesh, Mitchell Starc (1/25 in 4 overs) and Dushmantha Chameera (1/25 in 3 overs) were economical and supported the attack well.

Smooth Chase Anchored by Rahul and Porel

In reply, Delhi Capitals got off to a confident start and never looked in trouble. Abishek Porel, promoted up the order, took charge early with a classy half-century, finding boundaries with ease and rotating strike smartly. His 51 off 36 balls included 7 fours and was instrumental in building the foundation of the chase.

After Porel’s dismissal, skipper KL Rahul took over and guided the team home with a composed unbeaten 57 off 42 balls, featuring 6 fours and a six. He was well supported by Axar Patel, who finished things off in style with a brisk 34 off 20 deliveries*.

The match turned in DC’s favor when Mukesh Kumar broke the back of LSG’s batting with his brilliant spell. His ability to strike in both powerplay and death overs restricted Lucknow to a below-par total, which was chased comfortably on a decent batting surface.
