DC vs PBKS IPL 2025: Delhi Capitals Clinch Thrilling Chase as Sameer, Shreyas Iyer Shine Against Punjab Kings in Jaipur

DC vs PBKS IPL 2025: In a high-octane encounter at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, the Delhi Capitals (DC) pulled off a sensational 6-wicket win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) with just three balls to spare, chasing down a formidable 207-run target. Powered by an unbeaten 58 off 25 balls by rising star Sameer Rizvi and a classy 53 from captain Shreyas Iyer, DC kept their playoff hopes alive in the ongoing T20 season.

PBKS Set the Stage on Fire with 206/8

Put into bat first after losing the toss, PBKS got off to a flying start thanks to explosive contributions from their middle order. Marcus Stoinis remained unbeaten with a fiery 44 off just 16 deliveries, while Josh Inglis entertained with a quickfire 32 off 12 balls. Shreyas Iyer once again anchored the innings with a solid 53 from 34 balls, blending aggression and control to give PBKS the launchpad they needed.

Despite the onslaught, DC bowlers managed to keep things from spiraling out of control. Mustafizur Rahman impressed with his variations, ending with figures of 3/33 in his four overs. Wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav chipped in with two crucial wickets, albeit at a cost of 39 runs, while Vipraj Nigam also claimed two scalps, finishing with 2/38.

DC’s Dynamic Chase Led by Rizvi and Iyer

In response, DC made a solid start and built momentum with consistent partnerships. KL Rahul gave them a fluent start, scoring 35 off 21 balls before falling to Harpreet Brar. Karun Nair then stepped up with a composed 44 off 27 balls, anchoring the innings at a crucial stage.

However, the turning point came with the entry of Sameer Rizvi, who showcased fearless hitting and composure under pressure. His unbeaten 58 off just 25 balls included a flurry of boundaries and timely running between the wickets. Rizvi’s calculated aggression ensured the chase stayed on track even as wickets fell at the other end.

Shreyas Iyer once again played a pivotal role, scoring 53 from 34 deliveries and stabilizing the innings during the middle overs. His experience and shot selection allowed Rizvi the freedom to attack, culminating in a memorable chase that ended in the 19.3 over.

PBKS Bowlers Fall Short in the Death

PBKS struggled in the death overs despite having a decent grip on the game midway. Harpreet Brar picked up two wickets for 41 runs, but lacked support from the other end. Marco Jansen and Praveen Dubey managed a wicket each, but were expensive, conceding 41 and 20 runs respectively in their limited spells.

The inability to contain DC’s middle-order hitters in the final overs ultimately cost PBKS the match and left their campaign hanging in the balance.
