Ghorasahan, Bihar – April 22, 2025: In a remarkable journey marked by perseverance and resilience, Sanjeev Kumar, a native of Pithwa village in Jhrokhar Panchayat, Ghorasahan block, has secured an impressive All India Rank of 583 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination in his second attempt. His achievement has brought immense pride to his family and to the entire East Champaran district.
Sanjeev, the son of Mr. Sunil Kushwaha, a local grocery shop owner, and Mrs. Sunita Kumari, has emerged as a symbol of hope and hard work for aspirants in rural India. His story is proof that dedication and determination can break barriers, no matter where you come from.
Speaking to local reporters, Sanjeev shared that after completing his graduation from Delhi in 2022, he dedicated himself fully to preparing for the UPSC. In 2023, during his first attempt, he successfully reached the Mains stage, but did not clear the final round. However, rather than giving up, he used the experience as motivation to refine his preparation strategy.
In the 2024 exam cycle, his persistence paid off as he secured AIR 583, potentially earning him a place in the Indian Police Service (IPS). His story has already inspired many in his village and beyond, reinforcing the belief that success in UPSC no longer requires access to elite coaching centers in big cities.
Adding to the pride of Ghorasahan, IAS Rahul Kumar, a native of the same region and currently serving as Secretary in the Finance Department, praised Sanjeev’s achievement. He highlighted how the environment in villages has gradually become more conducive for UPSC preparation. “Earlier, aspirants had to migrate to cities for guidance and resources. Today, thanks to increased awareness and digital access, villages are producing top talent,” he remarked.
Celebrations are in full swing in Pithwa, where neighbors and well-wishers are gathering to congratulate the Kumar family. The community sees Sanjeev not just as a successful candidate, but as a role model who has shown that dreams can come true through persistence and belief.
As Bihar continues to contribute to India’s civil services, Sanjeev Kumar’s story stands tall among tales of determination and triumph.
