A shocking incident unfolded in Begusarai on Thursday night as criminals opened fire at a shop, leaving the local community in panic. The victim, identified as Malik Sahni (55), a cousin of Union Minister of Jal Shakti and BJP MP from Muzaffarpur, Rajbhushan Choudhary Nishad, sustained bullet injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at Sadar Hospital, Begusarai.
Brazen Attack in Public Space
According to sources, the attack took place at Bhagwati Chowk in Kumbi village, where Malik Sahni runs a dairy shop. Just two days prior, an altercation had occurred when a man on a motorbike visited the shop and demanded a cold drink on credit. Upon being denied by Malik’s son, Vikas, the individual allegedly threatened to kill them.
On Thursday night, the same perpetrators returned, this time with firearms, and unleashed a barrage of bullets at the shop. Three bullets struck the premises, with one hitting Sahni’s right leg. The assailants fled the scene before locals could intervene.
Police Investigation Underway
Upon receiving information, the police arrived promptly and launched an investigation. Authorities have initiated a manhunt to apprehend the attackers and are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas to track down the suspects.
Series of Attacks on Political Families
This incident follows another violent episode in Bhagalpur’s Naugachia district, where the nephew of Union Minister of State for Home, Nityanand Rai, was shot dead over a water dispute. The minister’s sister was also injured in the altercation.
These back-to-back attacks on relatives of high-profile political leaders have raised serious concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation in Bihar. The police are intensifying efforts to curb such incidents and ensure justice for the victims.
