Amid reports of cross-border tensions in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch sector, the Indian Army has firmly denied any ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC). The clarification came after media outlets, citing official sources, suggested that Indian forces had retaliated to unprovoked firing by Pakistani troops in the region.
In a statement shared by news agency ANI, the Army made it clear: “There has been no ceasefire violation along the Line of Control.” This contradicts earlier reports from news agency PTI, which claimed the firing incident lasted for about 15 minutes and fortunately caused no casualties on the Indian side.
Ceasefire Remains Intact, But Tensions Simmer
While the official stance rules out any recent ceasefire breach, the Line of Control continues to be a hotbed of infiltration attempts and security operations. Although the 2021 India-Pakistan ceasefire agreement brought relative calm to the border, recent movements have kept forces on high alert.
Operation ShivShakti: A Recent Success in Foiling Infiltration
Just weeks before the current controversy, the Indian Army neutralized two terrorists attempting to infiltrate the LoC in a well-coordinated operation named ‘Operation ShivShakti’. Conducted jointly with the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), the mission was based on specific intelligence inputs.
According to a statement by the White Knight Corps, troops responded swiftly and decisively, eliminating the threat with accurate firepower. The Army recovered three weapons from the site and ensured there was no breach in territorial security.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the White Knight Corps wrote:
“#OPERATION SHIVSHAKTI – In a successful anti-infiltration operation, alert troops of the #IndianArmy eliminated two terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control. Swift action and accurate firepower thwarted the nefarious designs. Three weapons have been recovered…”
Intelligence, Coordination, and Vigilance
The Army credited the successful outcome of Operation ShivShakti to synchronized intelligence sharing between its internal units and the JKP. This operation not only neutralized an imminent threat but also reaffirmed the Army’s multi-layered security strategy along the LoC.
The quick response time, guided by intelligence, showcased the evolving coordination between ground forces and law enforcement agencies in Kashmir. Officials emphasized that such joint efforts are key to preventing terrorist infiltration and ensuring the safety of border communities.
Looking Ahead: Calm on the Surface, Watchfulness Beneath
Even as the Army denies current ceasefire violations, the LoC remains a tense frontier, demanding constant vigilance. While peace efforts continue at diplomatic levels, operations like ShivShakti underscore the reality that threats remain active and security forces must stay a step ahead.
The Indian Army’s approach, combining strong ground presence with real-time intelligence coordination, is increasingly vital in maintaining the fragile peace in Jammu and Kashmir. For now, calm may prevail along the LoC, but India’s border warriors remain ever watchful.
