In a bold and visionary step toward bridging India’s learning-to-livelihood gap, Infosys Foundation, the CSR and philanthropic arm of Infosys, on Tuesday announced the launch of the Infosys Springboard Livelihood Program. The initiative aims to empower half a million job seekers in India by 2030 with the skills and opportunities required to build sustainable careers.
Backed by a ₹200 crore commitment in its first phase, the program is a massive push to address India’s employment and skilling challenges in both STEM and non-STEM sectors.
“The big opportunity in our country is to focus on skilling initiatives to meet industry and AI-age demands, and then shape a path from learning to livelihood,” said Sumit Virmani, Trustee at Infosys Foundation.
“This program is conceptualized to meet this urgent need.”
From Skilling to Sustainable Careers
At the heart of the initiative is Infosys Springboard, Infosys’s flagship digital learning platform, which will now expand its offerings to not just support education and training but also enable job creation and sustainable livelihoods for youth across India.
The Springboard Livelihood Program will offer learners a comprehensive curriculum, covering everything from cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to industry-specific roles in digital marketing, finance, and beyond.
Additionally, the platform will provide foundational workplace skills such as:
- Communication skills
- Time management
- Interview preparation
These essential modules aim to boost employability and workplace readiness, especially for first-generation learners and those from underprivileged backgrounds.
Collaborative Network of Experts
Infosys Foundation isn’t doing this alone. It has partnered with nearly 20 implementation organizations, including respected names like:
- ICT Academy
- Unnati
- Magic Bus
- Nirmaan
- NIIT Foundation
- Aga Khan Rural Support Programme
- Centum Foundation
- CII Foundation
These partnerships are designed to curate diverse job opportunities and create clear career pathways for learners across various industries such as IT, KPO, BFSI (banking and financial services), retail, logistics, and e-commerce.
Industry Leaders Applaud the Move
V. Srikanth, CEO of ICT Academy, welcomed the initiative, stating:
“The demand for a workforce skilled in advanced IT, BFSI, and logistics has never been higher. Infosys Foundation’s investment will equip youth with the confidence and capabilities needed to navigate and thrive in today’s dynamic job landscape.”
A Nation-First Approach to Skilling
The Infosys Springboard Livelihood Program is more than just a CSR initiative — it’s a national call to action. With India preparing for major technological transformations and expanding its digital economy, building a skilled, future-ready workforce has never been more crucial.
The program’s long-term vision aligns with the broader Digital India and Skill India missions, emphasizing inclusivity, digital empowerment, and employability for all.
“Our goal is to move beyond learning and enable real, impactful livelihood opportunities for millions of young Indians,” Infosys Foundation emphasized in its statement.
With the first phase already underway and a strong framework of public-private collaboration, Infosys Foundation’s initiative could become a game-changer in India’s skilling ecosystem. As the country seeks to harness its demographic dividend, programs like Springboard Livelihood will play a pivotal role in fueling economic growth through human capital development.
