The King of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan, hosted the grand event and ensured the energy levels remained high. He gave a spectacular introduction to cricket icon Virat Kohli, prompting the Kolkata crowd to chant “Kohli, Kohli!” as the star batter walked onto the stage. Kohli, in his address, spoke about the impact of the “gold generation” of cricketers, emphasizing their continued influence on the game.

The celebrations continued as SRK and Kohli grooved to Jhoome Jo Pathaan, sending the stadium into a frenzy. The Bollywood superstar also invited KKR’s Rinku Singh to the stage, calling the IPL the “Indian Possible League” for young talents like him. The duo danced to Lutt Putt Gaya, adding to the glitz and glamour of the evening.

Toss Update: RCB Opt to Bowl First

Following the grand curtain-raiser, the toss finally took place at 7:10 PM IST. RCB’s stand-in captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and elected to bowl first against KKR. He confirmed that RCB will field a combination of three pacers and two spinners.

For KKR, Australian pacer Spencer Johnson received his debut cap, marking his first appearance for the three-time champions after playing for Gujarat Titans last season.
