The ambitious project, carried out by the Reporter Broadcasting Company, includes enhancing the pitch to international quality, installing advanced lighting systems, and adding new VIP galleries and pavilions. Structural strengthening and comprehensive safety upgrades are also underway to address previous capacity restrictions and ensure a safe environment for up to 50,000 spectators. The work is supervised by chief secretary Dr. A Jayathilak, with support from Kerala’s sports minister and other authorities, reflecting the state’s commitment to hosting international sporting events.
Security preparations feature a high-level committee led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and police superintendent DGP R Chandrasekhar, addressing past concerns over stadium capacity and safety.
