The much-anticipated fourth installment of the Krrish franchise, starring Hrithik Roshan, has hit yet another roadblock, with budget constraints pushing the film’s production timeline to 2026. The soaring financial demands have made it challenging to secure a studio willing to invest in the massive project, prompting major changes behind the scenes.
Budget Hurdles Stall Production
The Krrish series has been a cornerstone of Indian superhero cinema, but the estimated Rs. 700 crores required for Krrish 4 has become a significant obstacle. Industry insiders reveal that studios have grown cautious, particularly in a post-Marvel era where high-budget superhero films face intense scrutiny. “The studios were not confident about Krrish at this budget, given that it has been over a decade since the last installment,” a reliable source stated.
Hrithik Roshan initially enlisted his close collaborator, Siddharth Anand, to help secure a studio partner. However, the current financial climate has made this task increasingly difficult. The production team is now exploring alternative funding strategies, including negotiating directly with studios across India to bring the project to life.
Changes in the Production Team
As a result of ongoing budget discussions, the Krrish 4 production team is undergoing significant restructuring. Siddharth Anand and his production house, Marflix, will no longer be associated with the project. After a private meeting between Hrithik and Rakesh Roshan, it was decided that FilmKraft would take over production duties, collaborating with a leading studio to push the project forward.
Additionally, Karan Malhotra, who had been brought on board as the director under Siddharth Anand’s leadership, has also exited the project. With Anand stepping aside, Malhotra’s departure marks a complete creative overhaul. A new team will soon be assembled to reassess the budget and steer the project towards production.
A New Timeline
Originally slated to begin filming in the latter half of 2025, Krrish 4’s production has now been postponed to 2026. Despite these hurdles, the Roshan family remains optimistic. They believe the success of Hrithik Roshan’s upcoming film, War 2, could pave the way for Krrish 4 by boosting studio confidence in his box-office draw.
Fans of the franchise have been eagerly awaiting the next chapter in Krrish’s journey, and while the delays have been frustrating, the commitment to delivering a high-quality cinematic experience remains unwavering. As the Roshans recalibrate their approach, all eyes are now on what lies ahead for India’s beloved superhero.
