Meerut: The tragic murder of Saurabh Rajput, a merchant navy officer, allegedly at the hands of his wife Muskan Rastogi and her lover Sahil Shukla, has sparked new revelations. Saurabh’s mother, Renu Devi, has claimed that Muskan’s parents were aware of the crime before it was reported but kept quiet to avoid legal consequences.
Family’s Shocking Allegations
Renu Devi directly accused Muskan’s parents of trying to mislead the police. “The truth is that Muskan’s mother knew about the crime before March 18. They informed the police only to protect themselves from legal action,” she stated.
According to police reports, Muskan and Sahil confessed to murdering Saurabh on March 4. They allegedly stabbed him to death, dismembered his body, and sealed the remains inside a drum with cement. The couple then tried to cover up the crime before Muskan’s parents eventually reported it to the police.
Child’s Innocent Revelation
In a disturbing twist, Saurabh’s six-year-old daughter reportedly made a chilling remark that hinted at her father’s fate. Renu Devi claimed that the child had said, “Papa is in the drum.”
However, SP City Ayush Vikram Singh denied that the child knew about the crime beforehand. He suggested that the girl might have overheard conversations about the incident afterward. “When Muskan was narrating the incident to her family, the girl might have been present there. But she did not know anything before the murder,” Singh clarified.
Months of Planning and Manipulation
Police investigations have uncovered that Muskan had been planning Saurabh’s murder since November 2023. According to reports, she manipulated Sahil into believing that his dead mother wanted Saurabh killed.
Muskan allegedly created a fake Snapchat ID, pretending to be her brother, and convinced Sahil that his deceased mother was communicating through it. “Muskan told Sahil that his dead mother had appeared and was connecting via her brother’s ID. She also claimed that the mother wanted Saurabh to be killed,” a police officer revealed.
Muskan reportedly purchased knives under the pretense of cutting chicken and acquired sedatives in preparation for the crime. After the murder, she explored remote locations to dispose of the body but ultimately decided to hide it within the house.
Estranged Family Ties and Isolation
Police also noted that Saurabh had been estranged from his family for the last two years. He had limited contact with them after his marriage to Muskan, which created tension within the family. “Muskan knew that after Saurabh’s murder, his family would not immediately try to find him because they were not in regular touch,” said the SP.
Muskan’s First Night in Jail
After being arrested, Muskan reportedly broke down in tears during her first night in jail. Police sources said that she refused to eat, overwhelmed by the gravity of her actions. Sahil, on the other hand, appeared emotionally numb, showing little reaction to the unfolding events.

The case has gained national attention, with police now investigating Muskan’s parents’ involvement and whether they intentionally withheld information. The authorities are also probing whether Muskan and Sahil received any external assistance in planning or executing the crime.
