Noida is set to become a major hub for artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath laid the foundation stone for Microsoft’s new campus in Sector 145 on Saturday, March 8. This state-of-the-art research and development (R&D) center is expected to generate significant employment opportunities and boost the state’s reputation as an emerging technology hub.
Microsoft’s Noida Campus: A Game-Changer for Uttar Pradesh
Spanning 15 acres with a built-up area of 1.1 million square feet, the Noida campus will focus on advancements in AI, cloud computing, and cybersecurity. This facility marks a significant expansion of Microsoft’s India Development Center (IDC), which already has a presence in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Noida. The project is aligned with the company’s goal of strengthening India’s AI capabilities and supporting engineering talent.
During the ceremony, CM Yogi Adityanath highlighted that Microsoft’s decision to set up an R&D facility in Noida is a strong indicator of Uttar Pradesh’s growing prominence as an investment destination. He emphasized that the state government is committed to providing a business-friendly environment for global tech firms.
Microsoft’s Commitment to AI and Digital Transformation
Rajiv Kumar, Managing Director and President of Microsoft IDC, expressed gratitude to the Uttar Pradesh government for its support. He stated, “The groundbreaking ceremony of our new Noida campus reflects Microsoft’s continued commitment to advancing responsible AI innovation that empowers all communities, businesses, and citizens.”
Microsoft also highlighted that the new campus will help drive AI skilling programs, digital innovation, and research breakthroughs. The facility aims to attract top engineering talent from India and across the world, creating a strong workforce that will contribute to India’s digital transformation.
Infrastructure Development in Noida
Apart from the Microsoft project, CM Yogi Adityanath also laid the foundation stone for two major underpasses on the Noida Expressway, located at Sector 135 and Sector 146. These infrastructure projects are expected to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity in the region.
With Noida evolving into a major technology hub, Microsoft’s investment is expected to further accelerate its growth, making it a key player in India’s journey towards becoming an AI-first nation.
