Parliament Monsoon Session 2025: After a pause of more than three months, the Indian Parliament is set to resume work as Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced on Wednesday that the Monsoon Session 2025 will begin on July 21 and run till August 12. Both Houses — Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha — will convene at 11 AM on the opening day, marking the beginning of what is expected to be a politically charged session.
The announcement came after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, recommended the session dates. “We have decided to hold the Monsoon Session of Parliament from July 21 to August 12,” Rijiju told reporters, adding that all issues can be raised as per parliamentary rules.
This session follows the Budget Session 2025, which had commenced on January 31 and was adjourned sine die on April 4, bringing the first parliamentary phase of the year to a close.
Key Debates Expected: Operation Sindoor & Pahalgam Attack
This Monsoon Session is poised to be particularly significant due to recent national security developments. The government’s covert military exercise, Operation Sindoor, which targeted nine terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), has stirred heated political debate.
