Namibia secured a thrilling 3-wicket win over Canada in the second T20 match at the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek. Chasing a target of 146 runs in 15 overs, Namibia reached 146/7 off the last ball to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
Canada batted first after Namibia won the toss and opted to bowl. Yuvraj Samra scored a quick 37 off 18 balls, and Kanwarpal Tathgur added 30 off 15 balls to help Canada post 145/8. Ruben Trumpelmann was the pick of the bowlers for Namibia, taking 4 wickets for 28 runs. JJ Smit also impressed with 3 wickets for 18 runs.
In reply, Namibia started well with Nicol Loftie-Eaton scoring 36 off 21 balls and Niko Davin contributing 32 off 19 balls. JJ Smit played a match-winning knock of 33 off 17 balls, guiding Namibia to victory on the last delivery. Akhil Kumar was the best bowler for Canada, taking 3 wickets for 12 runs.
JJ Smit’s all-round performance earned him the Player of the Match award. The next match will be held at the same venue, where Canada will aim to bounce back.
