Noida, April 15, 2025 – The Noida Authority marked its 49th Foundation Day with a resounding announcement: over 950,000 square metres of government land, worth ₹970 crore, has been freed from encroachment during the 2024-25 financial year. The declaration came from CEO Lokesh M during a press conference held at Indira Gandhi Kala Kendra, Sector 6, Noida.
“We directed our land department to identify encroached government land and launched removal drives across villages and sectors. This land was earmarked for planned urban development,” said Lokesh.
Foundation Day Highlights: Achievements and Road Ahead
Founded on April 17, 1976, Noida (New Okhla Industrial Development Authority) was envisioned as a well-planned industrial township. Over the last 49 years, the city has transformed into a premier destination for housing, business, and manufacturing, with a focus on organized urban development.
Lokesh M emphasized the dual role of the authority:
“We are not just a development agency but also a municipal service provider. Our aim is to ensure both economic growth and quality of life for residents.”
He also revealed plans for a grand celebration next year to commemorate Noida’s 50th Foundation Day, promising cultural and business events on a large scale.
Farmer Land Dispute Resolution and New Initiatives
In a major step towards resolving long-standing rural concerns, the authority conducted a survey across 55 villages in January 2025. Kranti Shekhar Singh, Officer on Special Duty, confirmed that residential land disputes of 377 farmers in 15 villages have been resolved so far.
The authority also rolled out new schemes and digital initiatives to streamline services for farmers, homebuyers, property allottees, and other stakeholders.
Health and Sanitation: Cleaner Noida in Focus
Noida’s health department is striving for a cleaner and more hygienic city through several measures:
14 mechanical sweeping machines deployed for arterial roads
200 public urinals, including 14 “pink” urinals for women
Six decentralized waste recycling plants established
Door-to-door garbage collection expanded
Work underway to install 16 additional recycling plants
“We are working to boost Noida’s ranking in the national cleanliness survey,” said SP Singh, General Manager, Health.
Infrastructure Developments: Skywalks, Underpasses, and Urban Projects
Pedestrian safety and mobility have seen a boost with the construction of 32 foot overbridges (FOBs) in the last 49 years. The authority is also preparing to deliver a 300-metre-long skywalk, worth ₹40 crore, in June 2025, connecting Sector 51 (Aqua Line) to Sector 52 (Blue Line) of the Delhi Metro.
“We’re also planning a new skywalk between Sector 1 and 2 at the Gol Chakkar roundabout,” added RP Singh, General Manager, Water Works and Electrical Department.
Additional developments in FY2024-25 include:
Opening of three new underpasses
Upcoming inauguration of Sector 96 Authority Building
Fast-tracking delayed projects like Golf Course in Sector 151
Completion of approach roads to Hindon bridge (Sector 145)
Beautification of Brahmaputra Market (Sector 29)
Industrial Boom and Upcoming Plot Schemes
Sanjay Kumar Khatri, Additional CEO of Noida Authority, highlighted Noida’s transformation into an industrial powerhouse, housing more than 3,000 industrial projects including campuses of Microsoft, Infosys, Wipro, and TCS.
“Noida’s business turnover now exceeds ₹50,000 crore annually,” Khatri noted.
The authority is preparing to launch new industrial and commercial plot schemes, with plots of both above and below 20,000 square metres, particularly in Sectors 162 and 163 along the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.
These schemes are expected to attract domestic and international investors, leveraging Noida’s reputation for ease of doing business, modern infrastructure, and strong law and order.
