Mathura, March 9: In a significant breakthrough for law enforcement, Uttar Pradesh police gunned down Asad, a notorious criminal with a bounty of Rs 1 lakh on his head, in an encounter on Sunday morning. The operation took place in the Highway police station area of Mathura.
According to police officials, Asad was involved in more than three dozen criminal cases, including charges of murder, dacoity, and robbery across multiple states. His criminal activities had instilled fear in several regions, making him one of the most wanted criminals in Uttar Pradesh.
Acting on intelligence inputs, a special police team intercepted Asad and his associates near the highway. When confronted, Asad opened fire on the police, leading to a retaliatory action in which he was fatally injured. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, he was declared dead on arrival.
Senior police officers confirmed that Asad had a long history of violent crimes and had managed to evade arrest multiple times. His encounter is being seen as a major success in the crackdown on organized crime in the state.
Authorities have also launched a search for Asad’s associates who managed to escape during the encounter. Further investigations are underway to dismantle the criminal network linked to him.
The Uttar Pradesh police have been actively pursuing wanted criminals under the state’s stringent anti-crime policies. The elimination of Asad is expected to bring some relief to the affected areas where his reign of terror had lasted for years.
More details on the operation and subsequent actions are awaited as officials continue their probe into Asad’s criminal activities and connections.
