Parvez Hossain Emon Powers Bangladesh to Dominant Win Over Pakistan in 1st T20I

Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka — July 19, 2025: Bangladesh kicked off their three-match T20I series against Pakistan in emphatic fashion with a commanding 7-wicket victory at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium. Riding on a brilliant unbeaten half-century from opener Parvez Hossain Emon, the hosts chased down a modest target of 111 with 27 balls to spare, taking a 1-0 lead in the series.

Emon Steals the Show

Parvez Hossain Emon emerged as the hero for Bangladesh, scoring an authoritative 56 off 39 deliveries*, anchoring the chase with maturity and flair. His innings included timely boundaries and clever strike rotation, ensuring Pakistan never got a foothold once the chase began.

He was well supported by Towhid Hridoy, who played a calm knock of 36 off 37 balls, helping Bangladesh recover after the early loss of Litton Das. Finishing the match in style, Jaker Ali chipped in with a quick 15 off 10 balls*, guiding Bangladesh over the line with ease.

Pakistan Struggles With the Bat

Earlier, Pakistan’s batting line-up crumbled under sustained pressure from Bangladesh’s disciplined bowling attack. Sent in to bat first after Bangladesh won the toss, Pakistan could only manage 110 all out in 19.3 overs.

Despite Fakhar Zaman’s 44 off 34 balls, Pakistan lacked partnerships and momentum. His lone effort was not enough to propel the visitors to a defendable total. Khushdil Shah (17 off 23) and Abbas Afridi (22 off 24) were the only other batters to reach double figures.

Bangladeshi Bowlers Dominate

Bangladesh’s bowlers laid the foundation for the win, starting with Taskin Ahmed, who was exceptional with figures of 3/22 in 3.3 overs, striking at key intervals.

Veteran left-armer Mustafizur Rahman was unplayable, returning sensational figures of 2/6 in 4 overs, tying down the middle order with his trademark cutters and variations.

Youngster Tanzim Hasan Sakib also impressed, conceding just 20 runs in his full quota while picking up a wicket. The collective effort ensured Pakistan never got going.

Pakistan’s Bowlers Lack Impact

Defending a low score, Pakistan’s bowlers struggled to contain the Bangladeshi batters. Salman Mirza was the lone bright spot with 2/23 in 3.3 overs, including the wicket of Litton Das early on. Abbas Afridi took one wicket but was expensive, conceding 16 in his two overs. The rest of the bowling attack failed to pose any serious challenge.

With this win, Bangladesh take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. The teams will meet again for the second T20I on July 22, and Pakistan will need a strong comeback to stay alive in the series.

This match was a statement of intent from the Bangladeshi squad, especially their young core led by Emon, Taskin, and Mustafizur. The home crowd will be hoping for more of the same as the series progresses.
