Mullanpur, April 20, 2025 — In Match 37 of the TATA Indian Premier League 2025, Punjab Kings (PBKS) put up a total of 157/6 in their 20 overs after being asked to bat first by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur.
RCB skipper Rajat Patidar won the toss and opted to chase, and the decision was backed up by a disciplined bowling performance—especially from Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma, who both picked up two wickets each to put the brakes on the PBKS innings.
Punjab Kings Innings Summary – 157/6 (20 overs)
Despite a brisk start from openers Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya, PBKS lost momentum in the middle overs. Both batters looked in excellent touch, with Prabhsimran scoring a quickfire 33 off 17 balls and Arya contributing 22 off 15. However, both were dismissed by Krunal Pandya, who struck twice during the powerplay.
Captain Shreyas Iyer once again failed to capitalize, falling for just 6 off 10 balls, caught by Krunal Pandya off Romario Shepherd, which left PBKS struggling at 68/3 in the 8th over.
The middle order could not build on the platform as Nehal Wadhera was run out for just 5 runs by a sharp effort from Virat Kohli. Josh Inglis played a cameo with 29 off 17, but once he departed, the scoring rate dipped.
Shashank Singh tried to anchor the innings with a slow 31 off 33, while Marco Jansen gave PBKS a slight late push with a handy 25 off 20 balls, which included two sixes. However, the target remained moderate.

RCB Bowling Performance:
RCB’s bowlers managed to keep things tight for most of the innings despite not striking early. Here’s how the bowlers fared:
- Krunal Pandya: 4-0-25-2
- Suyash Sharma: 4-0-26-2
- Romario Shepherd: 2-0-18-1
- Bhuvneshwar Kumar: 4-0-26-0
- Josh Hazlewood: 4-0-39-0
- Yash Dayal: 2-0-22-0
Krunal’s variations and Suyash’s clever use of pace and flight choked the Punjab middle order, ensuring RCB would have a manageable target to chase.
Live Win Probability (at innings break):
- RCB: 73%
- PBKS: 27%
With the dew factor expected to come into play and a deep batting lineup including Virat Kohli, Phil Salt, and Tim David, RCB will back themselves to chase down 158. However, with Arshdeep Singh, Marco Jansen, and Yuzvendra Chahal in the Punjab attack, it won’t be a walk in the park.
