RR vs RCB: Rajasthan Royals Post Competitive 173/4 Against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2025 Clash at Jaipur

RR vs RCB IPL 2025: In a high-stakes encounter at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, Rajasthan Royals (RR) posted a solid total of 173/4 in their allotted 20 overs against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Match 28 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. After being asked to bat first by RCB skipper Virat Kohli, the Royals built their innings steadily with contributions across the top and middle order.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Anchors RR’s Innings

Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was the standout performer for the Royals, smashing a composed 75 off 47 deliveries. His knock included 10 boundaries and 2 sixes, striking at a rate of 159.57 before being trapped leg-before by Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood in the 16th over. Jaiswal’s elegant strokeplay set the tone for RR’s innings, and he looked set for a big one before falling just short of a century.

Steady Partnerships Through the Innings

Sanju Samson, leading the Royals and donning the wicket-keeping gloves, managed 15 off 19 balls before falling to Krunal Pandya, stumped by Jitesh Sharma. His dismissal came at a crucial time when RR were looking to accelerate. Riyan Parag contributed 30 from 22 balls with 1 four and 1 six but was dismissed by Yash Dayal, caught by Kohli. Dhruv Jurel played a fiery cameo, scoring 35 off just 23 deliveries, including 2 fours and 2 sixes, and remained unbeaten till the end.

Shimron Hetmyer chipped in with 9 off 8 balls but couldn’t finish strong, falling to Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the penultimate over. Nitish Rana stayed unbeaten on 4 off 1, helping RR push their total beyond 170.

Bowling Efforts from RCB

RCB’s bowling attack showed glimpses of control in patches. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the pick of the bowlers, conceding only 32 runs in his 4 overs and claiming the crucial wicket of Hetmyer. Yash Dayal and Krunal Pandya were equally effective, each picking up a wicket while maintaining economies of under 8 runs per over.

Josh Hazlewood, back into the lineup, grabbed Jaiswal’s wicket but was slightly expensive, going for 26 runs in 3 overs. Suyash Sharma, however, struggled with his line and length, leaking 39 runs in his full quota.

Fall of Wickets

RR lost their first wicket at 49 when Samson fell in the 7th over. Parag’s dismissal followed in the 14th over at 105, and Jaiswal departed just before the death overs at 126. Hetmyer was the final wicket to fall at 169 in the 20th over, giving RCB a late surge of momentum heading into the chase.

With a chase of 174 on the cards, the pressure now shifts to RCB’s star-studded batting lineup led by Virat Kohli and backed by the likes of Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, and Rajat Patidar. The Jaipur pitch, known for aiding both batters and spinners, will make for an intriguing second half, especially under lights.
