Power Supply in Ghorsahan Panchayats to Be Rotated from August 2 to 6 Due to Transformer Upgrade at Samanpur Substation

Transformer Upgrade at Samanpur Substation to Bring Long-Term Power Benefits

Ghorsahan, East Champaran, Bihar — In a bid to strengthen the electricity infrastructure of rural Bihar, the Samanpur Power Substation in Ghorsahan block will undergo a critical upgrade from August 2 to August 6, 2025. During this period, electricity will be supplied on a rotational basis to all villages under the block’s panchayats.

The decision was announced by Assistant Electrical Engineer Alok Kumar, who emphasized the importance of the upgrade for future uninterrupted power supply. While temporary inconvenience is expected, the long-term benefit will significantly enhance the region’s power reliability.

Why the Transformer Upgrade Is Necessary

Existing Infrastructure

Currently, the Samanpur substation is equipped with one 5 MVA and one 10 MVA power transformer. However, with the increasing demand for electricity in the Ghorsahan region, especially due to growing residential needs, agricultural dependency, and small-scale industries, the existing 5 MVA unit has proven insufficient.

The New Addition

As part of the upgrade plan, the 5 MVA transformer will be removed and replaced with a more powerful 10 MVA transformer. This significant step is expected to double the power handling capacity and reduce load fluctuations across connected villages.

Impact on Villages: Power Supply on Rotation

During the five-day upgrade, the power supply will be affected but not completely shut off. Electricity will be provided on a rotation schedule via alternative feeders. This means that while some areas receive power, others will temporarily remain offline, and then the cycle will rotate.

Villages Affected

Villages under the following panchayats will experience rotational supply:

  • Samanpur

  • Kadamwa

  • Jamuniya

  • Laukhan

  • Gurmiya

  • Bhelwa

  • Jharokhar

  • Kawaiya

  • Shripur

  • Ghorsahan North & South

  • And all other panchayats under Ghorsahan block.

The electricity department has ensured that no village will remain powerless for extended periods and that essential services like health centers will be prioritized during the rotation.

A Call for Cooperation from Residents

Message from the Power Department

The Electricity Department has urged all consumers to cooperate during this essential upgrade. Assistant Engineer Alok Kumar expressed regret for any inconvenience but emphasized the greater good: “After this upgrade, people will experience more stable, uninterrupted, and better-quality electricity. Please bear with us for just five days.”

For Better Tomorrow

This upgrade is more than just a technical enhancement—it is a step toward rural empowerment and development. Stable power supply is a crucial factor in enabling children’s education, boosting irrigation for farmers, supporting small businesses, and improving household living conditions.

Human Touch: What Residents Are Saying

Local residents, though initially worried about power cuts, have shown understanding and support for the move. Ramchandra Singh, a farmer from Jamuniya village, shared, “If five days of adjustment brings better power every day after, we are ready for it. Our children can study better, and our water pumps will work properly.”

Similarly, Sita Devi from Gurmiya said, “We hope this means fewer outages during cooking and festival times. That’s a big relief.”

Looking Ahead: Improved Rural Electrification

The move to install a 10 MVA transformer is in line with Bihar’s broader goal of rural electrification and modernization. With increasing digitization and mechanization even in villages, the demand for power is rapidly rising. This timely intervention by the electricity board showcases its proactive approach.

Once completed, this upgrade will boost load capacity, reduce breakdowns, and help meet peak hour demands efficiently. The Samanpur Substation will become a stronger hub capable of delivering more consistent electricity to thousands of rural households.

Final Word

While five days of rotational supply might seem inconvenient, it is a necessary sacrifice for a brighter, more empowered future. The administration’s focus on sustainable and scalable infrastructure improvements marks a positive shift in how rural India is being energized.

Let’s stand together, endure the short wait, and welcome a future of uninterrupted, stronger, and reliable power in Ghorsahan.
