Shubman Gill’s Blazing 84 Powers Gujarat Titans to 209/4 Against Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur Showdown

In a high-octane clash at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Gujarat Titans (GT) posted a daunting total of 209/4 against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Match 47 of the IPL 2025 season. Skipper Shubman Gill led the charge with a scintillating 84 off 50 balls, well supported by Jos Buttler’s explosive unbeaten half-century.

After losing the toss, Titans were put into bat by Rajasthan Royals. The decision initially looked promising for RR, but Gill and opener Sai Sudharsan counter-attacked smartly. The duo built a solid foundation, adding 93 runs for the first wicket before Sudharsan fell for 39 off 30 deliveries, caught by Riyan Parag off Maheesh Theekshana.

Gill continued his dominance, displaying a mix of elegant boundaries and towering sixes. His innings featured five fours and four maximums, striking at a phenomenal rate of 168.00. However, Theekshana struck again, removing the GT skipper at a crucial stage in the 17th over.

Jos Buttler, surprisingly promoted up the order, made an immediate impact. The Englishman blazed his way to 50 runs off just 26 balls, hammering three fours and four sixes at a blistering strike rate of 192.31. His late assault ensured Gujarat crossed the 200-run mark comfortably.

Washington Sundar chipped in with a handy 13 off 8 balls before falling to Sandeep Sharma, while Rahul Tewatia’s brief cameo of 9 runs from 4 balls ended via a smart delivery from Jofra Archer. Shahrukh Khan (5* off 2 balls) accompanied Buttler at the crease as GT finished with 209/4 at the end of their 20 overs.

In terms of bowling, Maheesh Theekshana was the pick for Rajasthan Royals, bagging 2/35 in his 4 overs. Sandeep Sharma (1/33) and Jofra Archer (1/49) also contributed, but other bowlers struggled to contain the flow of runs. Youngster Yashasvi Singh and part-timer Riyan Parag were expensive, conceding at over 12 runs per over.

Fall of Wickets:

93/1 (S. Sudharsan, 10.2 overs)

167/2 (S. Gill, 16.4 overs)

193/3 (W. Sundar, 18.4 overs)

202/4 (R. Tewatia, 19.2 overs)

As the innings break concluded, Rajasthan Royals faced a steep chase of 210 runs on a surface offering some assistance to both batsmen and bowlers. With their explosive batting lineup, including Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson, and Riyan Parag, RR will need a special performance to overhaul GT’s mammoth total.
