Justice Yashwant Verma took the oath as a Delhi High Court judge in October 2021. Prior to this, he held several key positions at the Allahabad High Court. His judicial career began when he was appointed as an Additional Judge at the Allahabad High Court on October 13, 2014, and he was later promoted to a permanent judge on February 1, 2016.

Born on January 6, 1969, in Allahabad, Justice Verma pursued a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) from Hansraj College, Delhi University, before earning his LLB degree from Rewa University in Madhya Pradesh. He registered as a lawyer on August 8, 1992, and gained extensive expertise in labor and industrial law, corporate law, taxation, and related fields.

Legal Expertise and Professional Journey

During his tenure at the Allahabad High Court, Justice Verma served as a Special Counsel from 2006 and was later appointed as the Chief Standing Counsel for Uttar Pradesh between 2012 and 2013. His legal acumen led him to be designated as a Senior Advocate before his appointment as a judge.

Supreme Court’s Swift Action

The revelation of cash reserves at his bungalow prompted the Supreme Court Collegium to take immediate action. Given the gravity of the situation, the Collegium recommended his transfer back to his original post at the Allahabad High Court. The central government is expected to act upon this recommendation soon.
