After successfully concluding the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams for the 2024-25 academic session, CBSE is now preparing for the much-anticipated announcement of results. This year, approximately 42 lakh students appeared for the exams conducted between February 15 and April 4, 2025.
Breaking down the numbers, around 24.12 lakh students registered for the Class 10 exams, covering 84 subjects, while 17.88 lakh students took part in the Class 12 exams across 120 subjects.
When Will CBSE 10th and 12th Results 2025 Be Declared?
Looking at previous trends, CBSE has typically announced results by mid-May. For instance, results came out on May 13 in 2024 and May 12 in 2023. Only in 2022, due to pandemic disruptions, were the results delayed until July 22.
Following this pattern, students can expect the CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 results to be released together by mid-May 2025.
Once announced, results will be accessible on the official websites:
Passing Criteria and Grace Marks
Students must score at least 33% in each subject to pass. In cases where students fall short by a narrow margin, CBSE has a provision to award grace marks to help them clear the exams.
Looking Back at CBSE Results 2024
In 2024, out of the 16.8 lakh candidates registered for Class 12, about 16.6 lakh students appeared, and around 14.5 lakh students passed. This led to an impressive overall pass percentage of 87.33%.
Trivandrum emerged as the best-performing region, recording a phenomenal 99.91% pass rate.
As in previous years, girls outshined boys with a pass percentage of 90.68% compared to 84.67% for boys. Meanwhile, the pass percentage among transgender students stood at 60%.
About 1.25 lakh students were placed in the compartment category, giving them another opportunity to pass through re-examinations.
Maharashtra to Fully Adopt CBSE Curriculum by 2028
In a significant move, Maharashtra’s School Education Minister Dada Bhuse recently announced that the state would transition to the CBSE curriculum up to Class 12 by 2028. This change will begin in 2025, starting with Class 1 students.
The decision is expected to streamline educational standards across the state and better align students with national benchmarks.

With the results just weeks away, students are advised to regularly check CBSE’s official websites for timely updates. It’s also important to stay calm and prepared for the next steps, whether that involves college admissions, skill-building courses, or planning for re-examinations if necessary.
