On March 8, 2025, a distressing incident unfolded in Jaipur, Rajasthan, involving a police constable and a married woman seeking assistance. The victim’s husband reported that Constable Bhagaram, assigned to the Sanganer police station, lured his wife and their three-year-old son under the pretense of recording her statement related to a prior complaint. While he was at work, Bhagaram contacted his wife, took them on his motorcycle to a hotel, and, after instructing the staff that she needed to change, led her to a room where he sexually assaulted her. He allegedly threatened to imprison her husband if she disclosed the incident.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Vinod Sharma confirmed that an FIR was filed based on the husband’s complaint. The constable has been detained for questioning, and a medical examination of the victim is underway to gather evidence. This incident adds to a series of similar cases in the region, highlighting concerns about police misconduct. In November 2023, another constable was accused of raping and blackmailing a 21-year-old student in Jaipur. Additionally, in December 2023, three constables in Alwar district faced allegations of raping an 18-year-old woman over an extended period.
These events have intensified public outrage and calls for accountability within the police force. Authorities are under increasing pressure to address these serious allegations and implement measures to prevent such abuses of power
