Islamabad: The once-unshakable grip of the Pakistani military on the country’s affairs appears to be weakening as reports of internal dissent and external conflicts emerge. Media reports suggest that a growing wave of rebellion is brewing within the Pakistan Army against its Chief, General Asim Munir. Several officers have allegedly launched a campaign demanding Munir’s resignation, citing mismanagement and loss of trust in his leadership.
Leaked Letter Sparks Internal Unrest
A leaked letter, reportedly from a group calling itself the “Guardians of Honor,” has intensified speculations about a mutiny within the ranks. The letter exposes internal discord within the Pakistani military, particularly against General Munir. Sources suggest that officers accuse him of favoritism, nepotism, and allowing his family members to interfere in government affairs. The leaked document has fueled tensions, putting Munir’s position under severe scrutiny.
Baloch Rebels Intensify Attacks Against Pakistan Army
While the army struggles with internal divisions, external threats are mounting. Baloch insurgents have stepped up their attacks against Pakistani forces. In a major incident on March 11, Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) rebels launched an audacious assault on the Jaffar Express train near Bolan’s Maskaf region. The train, carrying over 500 passengers and railway staff, was attacked as it slowed down to cross Tunnel No. 8. Reports indicate that insurgents planted explosives on the tracks before opening fire and hijacking the train.
Conflicting Claims: Pakistan Army vs. BLA
Following the attack, the Pakistani military claimed to have neutralized 33 BLA militants in a 24-hour-long operation and successfully freed 212 hostages, including women, elderly individuals, and children. However, contradicting these claims, the BLA asserted that it still held over 150 hostages, including Pakistani security personnel.
Local news outlet The Bolan News cited sources confirming that BLA insurgents continue to hold several Pakistani military personnel captive. In response, the Pakistan Army has launched extensive ground and aerial operations, effectively sealing off the affected areas. The conflicting reports have created widespread uncertainty regarding the actual situation on the ground.

Growing Instability in Pakistan
The latest developments signal a growing crisis within Pakistan, where both internal rebellion and external insurgencies are challenging the military’s authority. With mounting tensions between the army leadership and its own ranks, combined with intensified resistance from Baloch rebels, Pakistan’s stability appears increasingly precarious.
