Mullanpur, April 9, Punjab Kings vs Chennai Super Kings: Punjab Kings (PBKS) rode on a blistering century by young opener Priyansh Arya to clinch a thrilling 18-run victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 22nd match of the Indian Premier League 2025 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur. The left-hander smashed his maiden IPL hundred, scoring 103 off just 42 balls, propelling PBKS to a formidable total of 219/6 in 20 overs.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, PBKS got off to a blazing start with Priyansh Arya showcasing his attacking intent from the get-go. The 23-year-old opener played with fearless aggression, hammering boundaries and sixes at will, bringing up his century in just 39 balls – becoming the second-fastest Indian to do so in IPL history. His knock was studded with clean hitting, fierce pulls, and elegant drives that left the CSK bowlers helpless.

He was well supported by Shashank Singh, who played a classy unbeaten knock of 52 off 36 deliveries, ensuring PBKS crossed the 200-run mark. Marco Jansen added some handy runs lower down the order with an unbeaten 34 off 19 balls.

For CSK, veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and pacer Khaleel Ahmed picked up two wickets each but were on the expensive side, conceding 48 and 45 runs respectively in their four-over spells. Mukesh Choudhary bowled a tidy two-over spell, returning with figures of 1/21.

In reply, Chennai Super Kings put up a strong fight but eventually fell short, finishing at 201/5 in 20 overs. Devon Conway played the anchor role with a fluent 69 off 49 balls while Shivam Dube contributed 42 off 27. Rachin Ravindra chipped in with 36 from 23 balls, keeping CSK in the hunt till the final overs.

However, disciplined bowling from Lockie Ferguson (2/40) and Glenn Maxwell (1/11 in 2 overs) ensured PBKS maintained control in the death overs. Yash Thakur also chipped in with a wicket, helping Punjab seal a much-needed victory.

With this win, PBKS continue their strong form in IPL 2025, and the emergence of Priyansh Arya as a dependable and destructive top-order batter adds immense firepower to their line-up. Meanwhile, CSK will be left ruing their inconsistent bowling performance and will need to bounce back quickly to stay in playoff contention.
