The streets of Hajipur echoed with gunfire on Saturday evening as two notorious criminals were injured in an encounter with the police. The incident occurred near the Dularpur Garden, located on the road from Bidupur Market to Manjhaul, when the police successfully trapped the criminals during an operation. In the ensuing gunfight, both criminals sustained gunshot wounds to their legs. They were quickly transported to Hajipur Sadar Hospital by the police team, where they are currently receiving treatment. Reports suggest that the duo may be referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for further care.
The criminals have been identified as 23-year-old Vishal Kumar, also known as “Fudena,” from Chikanota village in the Nagar police station area, and 20-year-old Sushil Kumar, from Gopal Chaknai village under Bidupur police station. It has been revealed that Vishal Kumar is allegedly involved in the high-profile NRI murder case in Hajipur.
According to Omprakash, the Senior Deputy Superintendent of Police (SDPO) of Hajipur Sadar, both criminals have been linked to several serious crimes, including robbery, murder, extortion, and dacoity. While Sushil has 35 criminal cases against him across various districts, Vishal has been implicated in nine cases in Chapra and Vaishali. Both are believed to have been involved in the infamous gold heist in Rajasthan and the cold-blooded murder of an NRI.
The Special Task Force (STF) is actively searching for these criminals in connection with the gold robbery case, and police teams are conducting raids to apprehend two other suspects who managed to escape the scene of the encounter.
